Otosblok – Device for tubal gymnastics

OTOSBLOK® is a CE-marked device used in the treatment of conditions related to Eustachian tube dysfunction:

• treatment of chronic otitis media with serous effusion (OME);
• treatment of recurrent catarrhal otitis media;
• treatment of fallopian tube dysfunction or insufficiency;
• Treatment of middle ear hypoventilation resulting from barotrauma.

Everyone can imagine the discomfort caused by a feeling of muffled hearing due to changes in atmospheric pressure (air travel, scuba diving, climbing and descending mountains, etc.). Negative pressure in the middle ear can cause pain, muffled hearing, hearing loss, fluid behind the eardrum, acute and subacute otitis media, and balance disorders.

OTOSBLOKrelieves and resolves negative pressure in the middle ear. It is easy to use and is suitable for anyone suffering from tubal insufficiency.
The application takes a few seconds (2-3 seconds) and can be repeated if necessary, with a break of at least 5 minutes between treatments. This treatment (insufflation of air into the middle ear) is known by otolaryngologists as the Politzer maneuver , named after the otolaryngologist Adamo Politzer, who in 1860 developed an effective method of opening the Eustachian tube by increasing the air pressure in the nose.

Treatment must be carried outafter consulting a doctorand/or on the prescription of a specialist, following an endoscopic examination and measurement of middle ear ventilation pressures (e.g., with impedance testing) and/or hearing conditions (audiometric testing).
