Otosblok – Device for tubal gymnastics
OTOSBLOK® is a device useful in the treatment of problems related to tubal dysfunction and all conditions of ventilation failure (congenital, resulting from barotrauma).

Everyone can imagine the discomfort caused by a feeling of muffled hearing due to changes in atmospheric pressure (air travel, scuba diving, climbing and descending mountains, etc.). Negative pressure in the middle ear can cause pain, muffled hearing, hearing loss, fluid behind the eardrum, acute and subacute otitis media, and balance disorders.
OTOSBLOKrelieves and resolves negative pressure in the middle ear. It is easy to use and is suitable for anyone suffering from tubal insufficiency.
The application takes a few seconds (2-3 seconds) and can be repeated if necessary, with a break of at least 5 minutes between treatments. This treatment (insufflation of air into the middle ear) is known by otolaryngologists as the Politzer maneuver , named after the otolaryngologist Adamo Politzer, who in 1860 developed an effective method of opening the Eustachian tube by increasing the air pressure in the nose.
Treatment must be carried outafter consulting a doctorand/or on the prescription of a specialist, following an endoscopic examination and measurement of middle ear ventilation pressures (e.g., with impedance testing) and/or hearing conditions (audiometric testing).

Instructions for Use
- Ensure that the batteries are inserted and charged inside the device.
- Insert the supplied nozzle onto the cannula on the upper side of the device.
- Place the Otosblok® nozzle against the nostril and press gently to seal the nostril.
Close the opposite nostril with your finger and close your mouth. - Press and hold the button to start delivering airflow into the nasal cavity for a few seconds (2-3 seconds), selecting the treatment pressure:
– V1 to deliver low ventilation pressure (~10 kPa, especially recommended for children aged 4 years and older),
– V2 for higher pressure (~35 kPa, for adults or in cases of greater obstruction). - Swallow during the 2-3 seconds of air delivery. To encourage swallowing, it may be helpful to hold a sip of water in the mouth, for example by asking the child to swallow while the device is running. Treatment only takes place during swallowing with the mouth and nostrils closed.
- Repeat the procedure for the other nostril.
- If necessary, wait 5 minutes and repeat the treatment (steps 1-4).
Warnings and restrictions on use are indicated on all sales packaging.
